Heritability is a measure of the relative proportion of genetic versus environmental factors that influence the variation of a trait (/phenotype). Measures of heritability are classically divided into narrow sense ([math]h^2[/math]) and broad sense (H^2) heritability. These are estimated by comparing variation between relatives.
