I work on the physiology, evolution, and conservation of crocodilians. My research goals are to understand hybridization from a genetic perspective in two species of Central American crocodiles (//Crocodylus acutus and Crocodylus moreletii//) and to examine its physiological and ecological consequences. By understanding the genotypic and phenotypic responses of hybrid vs. parental fitness, I am to use this research to promote effective conservation strategies, while also filling in some of the knowledge gaps in crocodilian genetics and physiology. | **Helen Sung** |

| Aloha! My name is Helen, my research focuses on evolutionary biology and conservation genomics of crocodilians. My research goal is to understand hybridization in two species of Central American crocodiles //Crocodylus acutus // (American crocodile) and //Crocodylus moreletii // (Morelet's crocodile) from both a genetic and phenotypic perspective. Using a genome-wide association study, I am investigating genetic markers from physiological stress in hybrid zones, for which I aim to use this research to promote effective conservation/management strategies, while also filling in some of the knowledge gaps in crocodilian biology and evolution. |
