Helen Sung

PhD Student, Zoology Graduate Program

email: hwsung@hawaii.edu

I work on the physiology, evolution, and conservation of crocodilians. My research goals are to understand hybridization from a genetic perspective in two species of Central American crocodiles (Crocodylus acutus and Crocodylus moreletii) and to examine its physiological and ecological consequences. By understanding the genotypic and phenotypic responses of hybrid vs. parental fitness, I am to use this research to promote effective conservation strategies, while also filling in some of the knowledge gaps in crocodilian genetics and physiology.
