 ==Abstract==
 A line of mosquito cells derived from ovarian tissue of adult //Culex quinquefasciatus// (Say) was established and grown successfully in vitro. The cells were epithelioid in appearance and firmly attached to the vessel surface, forming monolayers. Two distinct types of cells were observed, spindle-shaped and round. Serial subcultivation of the cells was carried through 93 passages from January to December 1969. The culture medium contained fetal bovine serum in place of insect hemolymph. Most of the cells in this line contained a diploid number of chromosomes (n is 3).
